Well, I don't know about you but November passed in a blink of an eye for me! We're officially into December and here in Edinburgh, the city is looking and feeling rather festive. Before I get carried away with the fact that Christmas and the New Year are only a few short weeks away, let's take a look at Where I ate in Edinburgh (November 2018)!

1. Lucky Yu Canteen / 62 Elm Row

It's always fun trying new places but there's always a certain amount of trepidation "Will I like the food?" "What's best to order?", there was no need to worry at all regarding Lucky Yu! We absolutely loved it. It's fairly new to Edinburgh, I believe when we visited we were told it had only been open two weeks!

2. Galvin Brasserie de Luxe / The Waldorf Astoria

The Galvin Brasserie de Luxe very kindly my mum and I to try their new brunch menu! The Brasserie is within the Waldorf Astoria but its entrance is tucked away down a quiet lane, giving the restaurant a private and relaxing feel. Now let's talk food. To start, I opted for their croissant with berries & granola (£6) to start and my mum had their Charcuterie & cheese board (£9). To be honest, we were both quite full after this course and would have been content to leave it there but there was more on its way! For our main course, I had their poached egg avocado & tomato salsa on rye bread (£12), and my mum had their full Scottish breakfast (£15)!

3. Twelve Triangles / 300 Portobello High Street

After following the lovely Paula (@_paularussell) on Instagram for quite some time, I finally had the pleasure of meeting her at an Instameet the month before. We decided we would meet in Portobello for lunch and a wander. It was a toss-up between Bross Bagels and Twelve Triangles, but we opted for Twelve Triangles. I had their Veggie baguette and I don't know exactly what was in it but it was absolutely delicious and Paula had one of their famous croissants.

4. The Little Green Van / Portobello Promenade

After my wander around Portobello with Paula, she suggested we visit The Little Green Van to have on of their delicious hot chocolates - I obviously couldn't resist! I'm always curious where businesses source their produce and I found out they serve Pittenweem Chocolate Company's hot chocolate. We both had their rose hot chocolate! If you're walking along Portobello Promenade, I would highly recommend visiting The Little Green Van!

5. The Mac Shack / East Princes Street Christmas Market

To celebrate the start of the Christmas markets, a few of us where invited down to visit the attractions. My friend and I opted for the Silent Light and the Fourth One Big Wheel, along with it we were very kindly gifted food vouchers! When looking down the list, the Mac Shack immediately caught my eye as I love mac n cheese. It was a cold, drizzly evening and the Mac Shack was exactly what we needed!

6. Mimi's Bakehouse / Castle Street Christmas Market

While we're talking about Edinburgh Christmas Market, I also wanted to give Mimi's Bakehouse a shout out! I had a takeaway cup of Tea Pig's tea and an amazing Raspberry & Coconut chocolate slice.

7. Papii Cafe / 1

Last but not least, I caught up with my lovely friend Colette for a wander around the Christmas Markets after work but Scottish weather had other plans. We decided to head for dinner instead and after walking about New Town for a while, we settled on Papii Cafe on Hanover Street. I'd often walked past it on my way to work and wondered what the food was like and now having been I can happily recommend it to anyone! We had a range of small plates, including arancini and falafel. Being vegetarian, I was so happy to see a range of great options!

That's all for now, see you next month!
